The four Indiana Free Fishing Days of 2026

The Indiana DNR set May 10, June 6-7, and Sept. 26, 2026 as Free Fishing Days. On Free Fishing Days, Indiana residents do not need a fishing license or a trout/salmon stamp to fish the state's public waters. All other rules such as seasons, bag, and size limits apply.

The days are for Indiana residents: a visitor from another state still buys a license, though anglers under 18 never need one. Bag and size limits, special regulation waters and the trout stream opener all stay in force.
