Colorado reservoirs, Gold Medal rivers and high-country lakes
Colorado fishing runs from warm prairie reservoirs on the eastern plains, where walleye, wipers and catfish rule, up through the Front Range lakes and the trout rivers of the Rockies to alpine lakes near timberline and the big western reservoirs of the Colorado and San Juan basins. Waters stay open all year, day and night, unless a special regulation says otherwise, and many lakes freeze hard enough for ice fishing.
This guide covers 670 lake and reservoir pages, 336 river and stream pages (13 with Gold Medal reaches), 214 boat ramp pages, 1,612 mapped shore fishing locations, 173 shops, all 64 counties and 201 towns, each with the 2026 CPW limits that apply.
The highest lake with a page here, Frozen Lake, sits at 12,956 feet.
