Georgia trout stocking in 2026

About one million rainbow trout and brown trout are stocked each year from March through mid-September. The number of trout stocked and the stocking frequency depend on a stream's fishing pressure, public access, and water conditions. Streams with greater public access are stocked more often with more trout.

The Georgia Wildlife Resources Division stocks trout in the streams, rivers and small lakes listed below. Trout stocking begins in March and continues through October.

WRD puts catchable trout at 9-11 inches. WRD publishes only the most recent weekly trout stocking report (one PDF overwritten each week) and the 2026 stocking-frequency list; numbers, sizes and species per water are not published. Earlier 2026 weekly reports are not archived on the WRD site. No warmwater (bass, catfish, walleye, striped bass) per-water stocking lists were found; the walleye page says about 600,000 one-inch fingerlings are stocked into eleve
