What the records hold

How Ohio stocking is recorded

The ODNR Division of Wildlife stocks fish from six state hatcheries. The stocking records give water body, year, species, life stage and number stocked (no month, day, county or size in inches); life-stage sizes are from the ODNR 2025 stocking summary release (fry less than 1 inch, fingerlings 1 to 2 inches, advanced fingerlings 6 to 12 inches, yearlings 7 to 12 inches, catchable 6 inches or longer). The 2026 rainbow trout table gives planned spring release dates by water, county and wildlife district; trout measure 10-13 inches.

The public stocking file ends in May 2022, so the most recent full years shown here are 2018 to 2022; spring 2026 rainbow trout releases come from the ODNR trout stocking page.

Yes; the ODNR stocking records give water, year, species, life stage and number, but the public file stops at May 2022.

What did ODNR stock most from 2018 to 2022?

Saugeye, 117,669,536 fish in those five years.

Which Ohio water got the most stocked fish recently?

How big are the spring trout?

The 2026 trout table lists them at 10 to 13 inches.

What is a special angler event?

Which fish sizes do the stocking records use?
